Thank you for this article! This makes me think about the idea of structural violence from Peace and Justice studies. I couldn't have put this better. I love the nuance in this piece, there's nothing wrong with telling this national myth but at what cost? Is it simply the peace that a rogue police force imposes by shooting at opposition demonstrators? What about the structural violence of the little village girl waking up at 4a.m. in the morning without food in her stomach, walking barefoot to a school 10 miles away on a cold June day only to "learn" in a classroom which barely deserves the name? This is the real place we need peace, not just in political rhetoric.
